I abhor racism and will do everything I can to combat it. I worked on the development of the European Parliament's first ever race relations bill. Following the findings of the Lawrence enquiry, this introduced the long overlooked concept of indirect racism into European law.

The growth of far-right parties and racist crime on our doorstep in Europe theeatens the cooperation we are building to root out racism wherever it is found. I am committed to working to defeat this threat for good.
